ABOUT ME

I’m Jacob Wright, dedicated wrestling enthusiast from Visalia, CA. My journey in wrestling began at Dinuba High School, where I had the honor of being coached by my father, Michael Wright. During my high school career, I was a state finalist and a two-time state placer, laying the foundation for my future in the sport.

I was proud to be Fresno State's first commit after the reinstatement of their wrestling program, under the guidance of head coach Troy Steiner. However, after the program was cut in 2020, I transferred to the University of Wyoming and continued to pursue my passion for wrestling with head coach Mark Branch.

Throughout my collegiate career, I achieved numerous milestones, including 103 career wins, becoming a 4x NCAA Division I qualifier, and earning a spot in the round of 12 at the 2021 NCAA tournament. My commitment to excellence extended beyond the mat as I was recognized as a 3X NCAA Academic All-American and a 4X First-Team Big 12 Academic Team member.

Today, I am deeply passionate about honing the next generation of champions. I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge and experience, training young athletes not just in techniques but in the discipline and mindset required to excel in wrestling and life.

Join me on this journey, and let’s work together to achieve greatness!

Michael WRIGHT II

High School Assistant Head Coach

Michael Wright II, brother of Jacob Wright, is an accomplished coach and athlete with a rich background in sports. He played Division 1 NCAA FCS football for Sacramento State, showcasing his commitment and talent on the field.

During his high school years at Dinuba High School, Michael made an indelible mark as a leading rusher in the state, setting the all-time rushing and scoring records in the school’s history. He also made history as Dinuba's first four-time state qualifier in wrestling, further demonstrating his versatility and dedication to excellence in athletics.

Now in his third year at Redwood High School, Michael has already guided the team to two consecutive Valley Championships in 2023 and 2024. With just five years of coaching experience, he has already helped nine athletes achieve state placements and has mentored one CIF finalist at DHS.

Michael is passionate about developing young athletes not only in their sports careers but as well-rounded individuals, instilling in them the values of hard work, discipline, and perseverance.

Jacob Wright Coaching

My coaching philosophies and techniques are based on a combination of my coaches in colleges and high school mainly from Troy Steiner, Mark Branch, James Nicholson, and Michael Wright Sr. Our main mission at WWA is to get athletes to fall in love with wrestling and the process of getting better rather than results. We are training tomorrow's champions, not just on the mat, but in life.

CORE VALUES: GRATITUDE, EFFORT, DISCIPLINE, COACHABILITY, AND CONFIDENCE
